How fricking cool is this??!!!

Okay, so there is a small conspiracy theorist who lives in my brain who looks for patterns that aren't necessarily there.

But COME ON!! Music encoded in the Chapel at Rosslyn??

As J says, Brown is cackling his ass off and crowing "I just sold more books!"

Here, take a listen: Rosslyn Motet

Which is a shame since Brown is such a hack.

So, so true. The book he cribbed from (Holy Blood, Holy Grail) was so much more elegantly written. (Having been listening to a recording of it - the reader they got for it didn't hurt either.)

Full of flights of fancy, but decent english.

Marla read his other book and, in addition to physically hurling the book across the room more than once, was driven to share the pain by reading passages of it to me from time to time. Dan Brown's writing is Harlequin Romance Novel stuff. It's not just poor turns of phrase, it's also structural weak and full of hackneyed characters who might as well have stepped out of a bad James Bond knock-off from the 60's. I would rather read Star Wars novels and books derived from video games than anything by Dan Brown.

P.S. I haven't forgotten about Imperial Hubris, you just caught me at a bad time. By "bad time" I mean that you posted that the same day that I cracked open Fisk's "The Great War for Civilization" (which you ought to read).

Dan Brown writes his books at about middle school level, as far as I can tell - which, pathetically, is what most people seem to read at. {shudder}

The Great War for Civilization, huh? Sounds right up my alley. I'll drop by the library (as I'm out of bookstore gift cards).

Hee. Thinking of Marla tossing the book is amusing - as is torturing you with bits & pieces. J & I listened to the DaVinci Code on mp3, and amused ourselves by mocking the more awfully written passages. I'm not sure I could bring myself to read something else of his.
